THE HORSHAM DISTRICT SHOWCASE TOUR 2019
Horsham District and Storrington Parish Councils had invited SADCASE to take part in and help with an event they were organising for Sunday 24 March next year. Since then, there has been a meeting with the organisers and we now have more details. It is intended that the Showcase Tour will kick off a summer of events in towns and villages around the Horsham District. It will be focused around a motorcade of 32 cars (escorted by motorcycle outriders) which will tour the District, stopping for breaks in designated towns/villages. The start will be breakfast for the drivers at Christ's Hospital School, after which the cars will be flagged away by VIP guests? The first stop is Billingshurst at 10.45, on to Pulborough for 11.30 and then Storrington for lunch at 12.30. After lunch, it's on to Steyning for 2.00pm, Henfield at 3.00 and then the finish at Leonards Lea House, with tea/reception for the drivers.
SADCASE has been invited to take part in two ways. First the motorcade. Local clubs and motoring organisations have been approached to provide as wide a range of interesting cars as possible within the 32 made up as follows:
* 8 Supercars
* 8 American cars
* 8 Air cooled engined cars ( assume VW's)
* 8 interesting cars from the heydays of British motoring
SADCASE has been asked if its members could provide the 8 interesting British cars? I know we have got a lot more than that but 8 it is.
Second. SADCASE's home base of Storrington is down as the lunch stop but intends to make a day of it. There will be an Italian Market, other stalls, a beer tent and other things going on around the town. The North Street car park will be closed to public parking with 120 of the spaces allocated to SADCASE for a classic car show. The cars will need to be in by 10.00 am and it is very much hoped they will stay until 4.00 pm. It can be very disappointing for people who cannot get there until the afternoon to see our cars, if we have all gone home after lunch. Pulborough have asked if any members who live in their area, would consider supporting them when the Tour stops off there at 11.30? Obviously, the weather in March is very unpredictable but we will keep our fingers crossed. Chris Mason is the contact person on firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in taking part? We know some of you have been in touch with him already and he will be getting back to you.
