September's Car of the Month- Austin A40
SADCASE member Ian Dewberry has kindly allowed us to feature this stunning Austin A40. In Ian's own words...I have owned my Austin A40 for 18 months, I purchased it from Milestones Classics after I had completed a full restoration of my wife’s Austin A35 , I didn’t want another restoration project straight away so decided to purchase a completely restored car which only needed minor updates to get it back to its original specifications. ABE was originally restored 2008 after being found on a barn , the owner had a company called London James based in Essex completed the restoration over 2 years finishing it in 2010 after the restoration it stood in storage until the owner decided to sell it in 2015, but having been put up for auction it did not make its reserve and eventually it was sold to Milestones Classics , I have tried to contact the company who completed the restoration project to get some background information as little is known about the car or its history but as yet I have been unsuccessful. Since getting the car I have replaced the rocker cover from a Mini spec to an original Austin one and found an original air filter ,sorted out a few electrical issues which came with the car I have replaced some of the bright work . We regularly take both the cars to many of the shows including the Goodwood Revival and ABE Came 2nd in the visitor class at the Austin A30/A35 international rally.
